Both East Cowes Vics and Newport lost to higher league opposition in the Velocity Wessex League Cup this evening (Tuesday).
Vics were beaten in Wiltshire by Laverstock & Ford despite equalizing twice.
Laverstock began the game strongly, with keeper Fraser Law keeping the home side at bay for the opening few minutes.
However, Lavvy struck in the 9th minute when Toby Snow brought down an opposition player in the penalty area, and the Salisbury side converted the resulting spot kick (1-0).
Vics then came back into the game when Voller directed the ball into the corner of the goal after being put through by Catania on the half hour mark (1-1).
8 minutes later, Lavvy regained the lead when their centre forward pounced on a defensive error before dispatching the ball into the top corner (2-1).
Vics came back before the half time interval with chances falling for Ji Nash and Adam Voller, which they failed to convert.

The 2nd half began with Ji Nash sending a shot sailing past the post.
Ji Nash equalized for Vics in the 62nd minute after being put through by captain Callum Chase (2-2).
A minute later, Jacob Reynolds came close to putting Vics into the lead with a shot that skimmed the crossbar.
Lavvy regained the lead against the run of play in the 67th minute by firing an effort over Law from outside the penalty area (3-2).
In the 76th minute, the Wiltshire side gave themselves a 2-goal cushion with a speculative effort that looped over Law (4-2).
Indiscipline struck Vics shortly before the final whistle when Jacob Reynolds was sinbinned for dissent.
