Consultations have been launched about changes to roads in Ryde, Newport, Seaview and East Cowes. At Well Street in Ryde the proposal is for 1-hour limited waiting parking bays during the day in front of the new dentist/nursery. The proposal is in line with all limited parking bays in the area and is designed to accommodate the needs of those who may be visiting the town centre during the day and takes consideration of residents’ overnight parking requirements. The Spring Lane proposal in Newport is for the closure of the Ford crossing for vehicular access to enable physical enhancements on Lukely Brook and to improve the ecological resilience and quality of the watercourse. In Seaview High Street, the proposal is for a short stretch of a ‘no waiting parking restriction’ (double yellow lines) because any vehicle parked in this location has a potential to cause traffic flow obstruction/queues and access issues. At Church Path, East Cowes, there are old yellow lines that have remained on the street and due to the current unsafe parking in the area the proposal is to make the lines enforceable by introducing a formal no waiting parking restriction. Details of the consultation, which runs until 3rd May, can be found on the council’s traffic regulation orders page at https://www.iow.gov.uk/council-and-councillors/consultations-and-engagement/traffic-regulation-order-consultations/. Comments of support and objections can only be accepted if a full address is included, whether the response is online, or by letter or email.

Oh look more double yellow pension fund lines – parking and traffic restrictions, the only thing the council now deliver to beleaguered islanders – got to get you out of your cars though, cos net zero!!
Means nothing, people who think it’s to make money will ignore them and people with blue badges park where they like. Blue badges do not allow you to park anywhere, just in disabled bays.
Anyone who thinks its to make money, go to any country that does not have them. Then explain to me why despite having far less cars than the UK their cities are grid locked.
Wrong, again.
‘Blue Badge holders may park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours, but in general not where there are restrictions on loading or unloading – indicated by yellow kerb dashes and / or signs on plates’
That’s from the Government website.
Just stop and THINK before you post something, otherwise you’ll look like a complete numpty, once again.
People with blue badges should not park on a blind corner or a brow of a Hill with or without yellow lines, but they do
I am a blue badge holder and even if i could i would not park just any ware. The number of people who display a blue badge and and it does NOT belong to them, they dont care, shameful
increases in road charges, parking and other vehicle taxes are designed to force poor people off the roads, which ensures that there is less congestion, less trouble parking and leaves the entire private vehicle transport system accessible to the rich only
Why are there Double Yellow Lines outside Sandown Pier
and NO IW COUNCIL G’ESTAPO ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS
book them!!??
They are too busy slapping tickets on vehicles parked along
High streets etc who may have gone a few minutes over their time
On the Island they allow parking on Double Yellow Lines, they couldn’t
Police a P I S S up in a brewery.
Council are useless and have you seen their Enforcement Officers
Says it all
Like the blind leading the blind
So many Roads needs Double Yellow Lines installed
to STOP Numpty’s parking illegally
Since one of the problems is residents not having enough parking space, maybe what is needed is special parking restrictions for SUVs and those stupidly oversized pickup trucks.
Great idea, there are far too many of them and Van’s clogging up
spaces for cars.
They should pay more to park such vehicles
Large van’s, Camper van’s and SUV’s should not be allowed to park along
residentual Streets or Roads, they make it dangerous for other
residents to drive safely.
“These vehicles block the visibility”
Roll out permit parking islandwide.
The biggest disruption to traffic on Seaview Hight St is all the hoorays walking down the middle of the street !!!
