A caravan parked on a residential road in Freshwater has been destroyed by fire overnight.
Firefighters were mobilised to Sunset Close in the town at around 00:40 this morning (Wednesday) to reports of a caravan well alight.
Crews used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to douse the flames and bring the situation under control – but not before the blaze could take hold and destroy the tow-along caravan.
Luckily, a gas canister on board did not explode.
Island Echo understands the vehicle had been parked on the close near to Longhalves Lane, next to the flats at the start of Collards Close, for the past fortnight. The caravan’s presence was reported to Island Roads last week.
The charred remains of the caravan remain at Sunset Close but have been cordoned off. The wreckage is expected to be removed in due course.
The cause of the fire is currently unclear.
Well it’s not that difficult, someone obviously had a problem with it parked there. This though is over the top,what if someone or a pet was inside. Hopefully some CCTV around ,if person/person’s found they face and arson charge and maybe prison.
This is beyond shocking. Whoever did this , I hope they will regret doing it for the rest of their lives.
Unfortunately, people who do things like that have no conscience, therefore no regrets!
