A woman stuck in the mud at Bouldnor had to be rescued by emergency services yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
The casualty had ventured along the coast between Yarmouth and Newtown on one of the hottest days of the year so far. But despite the pleasant conditions in recent weeks, danger was still lurking.
The woman found herself caught in mud in the vicinity of Bouldnor, around half way between Yarmouth and Hamstead.
In light of the predicament, the alarm was raised with Needles Coastguard Rescue Team, Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service all mobilised to go to her aid.
Lymington RNLI lifeboat was also launched.
The woman was successfully rescued and transported by lifeboat to Yarmouth Harbour, where she was met by awaiting Coastguards.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
