Wightlink has announced some minor amendments to its timetable affecting both the Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth Harbour FastCat foot passenger service and Yarmouth-Lymington car ferries.
The announcement comes after similar tweaks were made by South Western Railway to their rail services, as previously reported by Island Echo.
From Monday 24th April, the daily 21:20 Fastcat sailing will depart from Portsmouth Harbour at 21:45 and the 22:00 sailing from Ryde Pier will depart at 22:15. Then, from Monday 22nd May on weekdays only, the 05:15 sailing from Portsmouth Harbour may depart early, as soon as all customers are onboard. The 05:45 sailing from Ryde Pier Head will depart at 05:40.
Meanwhile, from Sunday 30th April, Sunday evening sailings of the Yarmouth-Lymington and Lymington-Yarmouth vehicle ferry route will depart 5 minutes early for the 18:10, 19:10, 20:10 services and 18:05, 19:05 and 20:05 services respectively.
Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield says:
“We are pleased to make these minor changes to the timetable which will benefit customers who want to make connections with rail services.”
“Our decision follows meetings with Bob Seely MP and discussions with South Western Railway. The rail company has also made adjustments to its timetable.”
Steve Tyler, Performance and Planning Director for South Western Railway, said:
“While the majority of our timetable is the same as the one in place, we have made alterations to improve performance and provide better onward travel, such as in Lymington where our services will offer better connectivity with ferries to the Isle of Wight.”
“Our advice to customers is to check before travelling as those changes mean a small number of services will depart slightly earlier, or later, than the December 2022 timetable.”
