The Castle Inn on Newport High Street has announced it is closing its kitchen indefinitely from Monday evening, citing family health commitments and the ongoing cost of living pressures facing small businesses.
In a statement shared with customers, the popular pub described the decision as “very difficult” and thanked those who have supported its food offering over the years.
Despite the closure, customers will still be able to visit the High Street venue, with the business confirming the change affects only one part of its operation.
The statement said:
“Due to a number of circumstances, including family health commitments and the ongoing cost of living pressures affecting small businesses, we have made the very difficult decision to close our kitchen indefinitely from Monday evening.
“This has not been an easy decision, and we’d like to thank everyone who has supported our food offering over the years. Your loyalty has meant the world to us.”
The Castle Inn has confirmed the pub itself will continue to operate as normal, with drinks, live entertainment and good company remaining at the heart of the business.
The statement continued:
“The pub itself will remain open as usual, and we look forward to continuing to welcome you for drinks, live entertainment, and good company.
“We truly appreciate your understanding and support during this time.
“Thank you for standing by us.”
