Ventnor Carnival has this evening (Tuesday) announced they will also be cancelling this year’s summer events.
Cowes, Newport, Sandown, Shanklin, Ryde and now Ventnor have all announced their
A statement has been issued on the Ventnor Carnival Facebook page:
“It is with great regret that we announce that Ventnor will not be holding our usual carnivals this year.
“I am sure some of you will have expected this announcement and some of you will be disappointed at this decision, we all know how much Ventnor loves its carnival.
“However, due to the current situation, it would be impossible to run a carnival while still maintaining the social distancing rules, and, as it stands, because so much of the work and preparation that should have already commenced/completed has been unable to start for obvious reasons, the standard of carnival that Ventnor has come to expect would be unattainable this year.
“Not wanting to disappoint any further and holding the health and safety of everyone is paramount, the carnival committee has come to the conclusion to hold over the carnival until next year.
“We have had so much support from local businesses and the wonderful people of Ventnor over the years, which we are very grateful for and we know that at present a lot of our supporters are struggling and so cannot help us in the same way.
“We would like if possible to support the town and if the government guidelines allow us, we may be able to hold smaller events.
“For instance, shops could still take part in the window spot and window decoration competitions which would encourage people back into their shops.
“There may be other events we could organise in place of the carnival but we need to wait for official guidelines before making any further plans.
“We thank-you for your continued support, keep safe and we look forward to seeing you all in 2021 for an amazing comeback carnival!”

Our pleasures in life are decreasing rapidly. Nothing to look forward to now, only awaiting our fate.
Akin to be sent to war. Will we come back maimed for life, or intact, or not at all.
I am talking about the risk of CV, not Ventnor carnival, although it does get quite aggressive at times.
Life will never again be the same.
Poverty, single parents with children of multiple partners of differing hues, crime, drugs, and violence will infest the nation.
So a little crumb of comfort can be found in life in Ventnor will not change that much.
