Players, coaches and supporters from Cowes Thunder Girls are tackling the Isle of Wight Coastal Path to help make their 2027 tournament dream a reality.
The determined squad has launched an ambitious fundraising campaign to raise enough money to send every player to the ESF Butlin’s Football Festival in 2027, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
Over the coming year, the team will organise a series of fundraising events, beginning with the challenge of walking the entire Isle of Wight Coastal Path across a number of weekends.
Every mile completed will bring the girls a step closer to their target, with the money raised helping to cover tournament costs, accommodation, travel, team activities and other expenses associated with attending the national football festival.
For many of the players, it will be their first experience of a national football tournament, giving them the chance to develop as footballers, build confidence, strengthen friendships and create lasting memories.
Alfie, one of the coaches at Cowes Thunder Girls, said:
“We’re raising funds to help our team attend the ESF Butlin’s Football Festival in 2027. This will be an incredible opportunity for the girls to experience a national football tournament, create lasting memories, develop as players and enjoy a weekend together as a team.
“Our squad is made up of a fantastic group of young girls who work hard every week, support each other and represent their club with pride. We want to make sure that every player has the opportunity to be part of this experience, regardless of financial circumstances.
