Families from across the Isle of Wight are being invited to a free picnic at Robin Hill next month as part of celebrations for World Breastfeeding Week 2026.
The event, organised by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (HIOWH) in partnership with The Breastfeeding Network and Barnardo’s, will take place from 13:00 on 4th August.
Parents, carers and their children are being encouraged to attend the informal gathering, where they can meet other families, share experiences and speak with health visiting professionals for advice and support on breastfeeding.
Due to the venue, those wishing to attend the Robin Hill event are required to book in advance via the link here.
Sharon Atyeo, Health Visiting Community Nursery Nurse, has said:
“Join us for the celebration picnics where you will be welcomed to our warm and friendly atmosphere and a supportive environment. You will be joined by other parents who are also going through their own breastfeeding journey, and will show understanding and compassion in a safe space.
“Health Visitors are here to support you and your baby with breastfeeding and answer any questions you may have.”
World Breastfeeding Week runs from 1st August to 7th August and aims to raise awareness of the health benefits of breastfeeding while promoting support for parents.
This year’s theme focuses on monitoring progress and evaluating the impact breastfeeding has on nutrition, food security and poverty reduction.

“World Breastfeeding Week provides an opportunity for parents to come together to celebrate their own achievements, value breastfeeding, make friends, and share experiences.
“Breastfeeding not only provides valuable health benefits for the mother and her baby but also environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
“As a Trust, our aim is to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding to enable parents to experience a positive breastfeeding journey.”
The Robin Hill picnic is one of several events being held across Hampshire during the week, with all events free to attend. Families seeking ongoing breastfeeding support can also access advice through Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s health visiting service.
