A team from Isle of Wight Pearl will next week be getting their hands dirty by helping to finish off the garden at Haylands Farm in Ryde, so that it can be enjoyed by clients, staff and visitors alike.
Haylands Farm was opened by Isle Of Wight Mencap as a small day centre unit for a group of young school leavers with learning difficulties, whose parents were concerned about the occupational future of their children.
The farm now offers people a real working environment tailored to meet their individual needs, supports families and siblings giving respite and enabling parents to work. However, it is supported almost totally by charitable donations, manpower and materials.
Staff from Brighstone-based Isle of Wight Pearl are not only lending a hand physically, but are fully funding the laying of pathways, the planting of flowers and the erection of a water feature. They will also be painting a lasting mural wall, amongst other projects.
The day of action for the benefit of the Isle of Wight community will take place next Friday (29th June).
