National trade tools supplier Screwfix is expanding to a 2nd location on the Isle of Wight at the Spithead Business Centre in Lake.
Screwfix has unveiled plans to transform the former Tile Superstores and Isle Jump trampoline park buildings into a new Island branch.
According to the plans, the proposed new location behind Aldi will see the former Tile Superstores site house the main counter, whilst the former trampoline park will be converted into a warehouse.
The major chain already has a branch in Newport on the Dodnor Industrial Estate – it opened 11 years ago today (30th May).
Island Echo initially heard of these plans for a new store back in March but it is only now that an official application has been made to the Isle of Wight Council.
At the time, a spokesperson for Screwfix said:
“As we continue to grow our store network we will announce details about each new store, including planned dates for opening, in due course. Customers can find up to date store information on Screwfix.com“.
You can view the plans, 23/00789/FUL, on the Isle of Wight Council’s planning register. Comments can be submitted until 19th June.

Don’t use any more since they did away with catalogues and in-store ones, now use Toolstation.
Toolstation usually follow Screwfix when a new store is opened, I wonder how long it will be before they open up nearby.
You obviously used the catalogues as toilet paper then. After all you write a lot of s**t comments.
Must agree about the catalogue if you pop into Screwfix some staff have no idea what you are after – in the good old days you could flick through the catalogue and show them. Not everyone who does DIY has a computer.
Good News for job’s and not having to drive into Newport all the time for DIY and building equipment
I use Toolstation, cheeper and you don’t have to mess about on a tablet when you want to collect an order
“don’t have to mess about on a tablet when you want to collect an order”… you don’t!
just have the app on ur phone & tap the ‘Here to collect’ button when you get there,.. so damn simple 🙂
Glad the store is not being left empty. Screwfix are a handy shop to have.
Better to have an empty property occupied, and more local jobs should anyone in that area be interested. Win win situation.
