A blind badger that had regularly been spotted in and around the centre of Ventnor has sadly been put to sleep by vets.
The unfortunate badger had frequently been seen by local residents in the vicinity of Zig Zag road, Belgrave Road, and Alpine Road.
Badger Trust Isle of Wight have said:
“This badger had been wandering around during the day for several weeks, even falling in a swimming pool and was seen this week falling from a high wall. He had also been seen walking around in circles in the middle of many different roads in the area where traffic had to stop
“It has been very difficult to track him down to catch him.
“We got him tonight (Thursday) after a few phone calls, but sadly after examination at the vets, it was not good news.
“Very grateful to The People’s Vet for seeing this badger so late, and also Friends of the Animals for their help and also generously covering the out of hours vet bill.
“A very sad outcome, but importantly he is out of pain now and is no longer suffering.
“Run free little one.”

Omg poor badger, that’s sad. He is in a better place now though, thank goodness for the help he received. They are magnificent animals often see some late at night running up and down the road, luckily it’s not a busy road.
Magnificant? They do untold damage to embankments and gardens. But I guess that’s because we keep building over their habitats.
Very upsetting.
R.I.P, animals are better than most people.
Unless you know better, EisE, animals have no set of moral values, so can be nether better nor worse than humans. I have to tell you that Water ship Down and Tales from the Riverbank are fictional.
Poor old brok he’s safe with all those other brok’s now
