A man who stuffed 2 wraps down his shorts during a Co-op theft has been fined after admitting a pair of shoplifting offences.
Nino Cavanagh, care of Trinity Road in Ventnor, admitted a pair of shop thefts when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (Tuesday).
Crown Prosecutor, Laura Lohk, told the court that on the 26th June, Cavanagh entered The Co-op in Ventnor and headed to the chilled aisle. He then proceeded to place to 2 wraps down his shorts and left the store without paying.
A few weeks later, Cavanagh entered The Co-op in Shanklin and took 2 crates of Peroni, again without paying. On this occasion, he was identify by the store manager, court heard.
Court heard how Cavanagh, who is subject to a community order, is “engaging well”.
Defending his client, Michael McGoldrick, told the court that Cavanagh admitted that alcohol was linked to his offending.
Cavanagh, who has 93 offences on his record, was fined £40 and ordered to pay compensation of £39.50 to The Co-op. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £16 surcharge fee.
