
A man has died after falling from a first floor window in Ryde last night (Friday).
As first reported by Island Echo, a plethora of emergency service personnel rushed to West Street following reports that a male in his 50s was on a pavement in need of urgent medical attention after falling from a first-floor window.
Given the initial 999 call, the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene, landing at Simeon Recreation Ground at around 21:30.
Police swarmed the area such was the severity of the situation, with West Street blocked.
Medical professionals worked to treat the man, however, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The property in question, seemingly derelict and under renovation, was cordoned off whilst initial investigations, took place.
Hamsphire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have confirmed that the man’s next of kin have been notified.
A file is being prepared for the coroner.
