A man has died after falling from a first floor window in Ryde last night (Friday).
As first reported by Island Echo, a plethora of emergency service personnel rushed to West Street following reports that a male in his 50s was on a pavement in need of urgent medical attention after falling from a first-floor window.
Given the initial 999 call, the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene, landing at Simeon Recreation Ground at around 21:30.
Police swarmed the area such was the severity of the situation, with West Street blocked.
Medical professionals worked to treat the man, however, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The property in question, seemingly derelict and under renovation, was cordoned off whilst initial investigations, took place.
Hamsphire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have confirmed that the man’s next of kin have been notified.
A file is being prepared for the coroner.

I’m starting to think the same thing mate. He was a very close friend of mine and he had no reason to be randomly hanging out a window on a Friday night. Was there any disturbances? Like did neighbours in the street hear anything? Apparently he was throwing glass out the window and there was a woman and man outside but what was being said between them is still a mystery? Can we please come together as a community and try to solve this because as per usual the police are absolute useless! They’ve told 21yo daughter her dad died and that’s it. No follow up, no advice or support whatsoever. Does anyone know his nervous and would anyone be happy to help me with this investigation? Thank you

Very sad news, these derelict buildings
need boarding up for the safety of the public.
I would have thought that securing it to negate the hazard to shipping wouldn’t be rocket science, And surely it must be registered to someone who has to be responsible for recovering it failing that it should be seized and auctioned to cover the costs.

sadly it was only a matter of time before a persons dies
from entering one of these UNSAFE buildings.
Any derelict building needs flattening and being fenced off
for safety.
They need to keep out of them then. Or maybe it was the owner trying to do work on it. Says being renovated.
