This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

- Nicky Christie, 51, of no fixed abode – admitted failing to surrender to custody at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 18th August after being released on bail, and 4 offences of entering or remaining at premises in Angelica Grove, Newport, in breach of a closure order on 4th November, 5th November, 27th November and 10th December 2025. Christie was made subject to a community order until 27th February 2028, including up to 35 days of rehabilitation activity. Christie also admitted stealing alcohol, protein products, crisps, chilled items and women’s sandals worth £328.68 from ASDA in Newport on 28th May and was ordered to pay £164.34 compensation.
- Amber Banham-Gage, 24, of Barton Road, Newport – admitted 5 shop thefts, comprising electrical items worth £39.98 and clothing worth £54.98 from TK Maxx in Newport, a sandwich worth £2.75 from Tesco Express, roses worth £5.50 from Co-op in Sandown, and a bottle of wine and a Jack Daniel’s pre-mixed drink worth £12.50 from Tesco Express in Sandown. She was made subject to a community order until 27th August 2027, including 40 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay compensation totalling £115.71. An application for a criminal behaviour order is due to be heard in December.
- Stewart Key, 49, of Bellevue Road, Ryde – admitted failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements by registering a day late. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.
- Simon Platts, 47, of Palmerston Road, Shanklin – admitted drug-driving on Perowne Way, Sandown, on 25th February after cannabis was found in his blood above the legal limit. He was fined £339, disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £136 surcharge.
- Kyle Parry, 30, of Victoria Street, Ryde – admitted possessing an approximately 8-inch kitchen knife in a public place – Beatrice Avenue, East Cowes, on 31st July, and assaulting a woman by punching her in the face in Newport on 12th July. He was jailed for 21 weeks for the knife offence, consecutive to an 8-week prison sentence for the assault, and the kitchen knife was confiscated.
- Harry Phillip Turnbull-Worrall, 33, of Pyle Street, Newport – was found to have failed to provide information identifying the driver of a vehicle following a request from Avon and Somerset Police. He was fined £180, ordered to pay £85 costs and disqualified from driving for 6 months after receiving 6 notional penalty points.
- Kevin Weeden, 66, of Victoria Avenue, Shanklin – admitted making 3 Category A and 7 Category B indecent images of children. He was sentenced to 8 months in prison, suspended for 2 years, with up to 30 days of rehabilitation activity. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £187 surcharge and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order lasting until 24th August 2036, restricting his use of internet-enabled and digital storage devices and his contact with children.
- Charlie Urry, 34, of Trinity Road, Ventnor – admitted failing without reasonable excuse to provide a specimen of breath for analysis following an incident in Forest Road, Newport, on 8th March. He was sentenced to 8 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, with up to 10 days of rehabilitation activity. He was disqualified from driving for 36 months, with the ban capable of being reduced by 36 weeks on successful completion of an approved course, and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £154 surcharge.
- John Duckworth, 52, of HMP Isle of Wight – admitted stealing goods worth £24.50 from Sainsbury’s in Ryde. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £24.50 compensation and £85 costs.
- Christopher Allen, 54, of Nelson Street, Ryde – admitted being drunk and disorderly at the Commodore Cinema in Ryde on 19th July. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
