A plethora of emergency services have descended on central Ryde tonight (Friday) amid a serious ongoing incident – with the air ambulance landing to provide life-saving care at the roadside.
Police and ambulance crews are currently on scene at West Street, near to the Co-op shop.
It was shortly before 21:20 that emergency teams responded to the scene, where a person is receiving medical care on the pavement.
The full circumstances of the incident are currently unclear.
The area has been locked down as medics tend to the injured party.
The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been scrambled from Southampton and has landed at Simeon Street Recreation Ground.
Flying medics who specialist in pre-hospital emergency care are now assisting colleagues from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, including a critical care paramedic.
West Street has been cordoned off in part, with a wider road closure in place between Milligan Road and Ratcliffe Avenue.
UPDATE @ 22:56 – Emergency services are now standing downfrom the incident.
