A flood alert for the River Medina issued earlier this morning (Sunday) has been upgraded to a more severe flood warning as adverse weather continues to hit the Isle of Wight.
As first reporter by Island Echo, it was earlier this morning that the Environment Agency (EA) issued flood alerts for several places on the Island including; St John’s in Ryde, Eastern Yar, Lukely Brook in Newport and on the River Medina.
Now, the River Medina is rising quickly especially at Shide and Blackwater.
Overnight, some 24mm of rain was recorded at Carisbrooke with a staggering 32mm recorded at Wroxall.
Several roads across the Island are flooding including main routes such as Fairlee Road, Quarr Hill and Beaper Shute.
The EA has warned that further rain – as much as 10mm more – could fall throughout the rest of the day.
No worries, when they build thousands more
homes on the island, the situation will get worse.
Maybe they could put in CCTV to check flood levels as well as speeding motorists.
