Many Isle of Wight households are still waiting to receive their new waste and recycling calendars, almost 2 months after the previous guide expired, with some now being hand-delivered through doors.
Island Echo first reported on 8th May that the annual calendars had been delayed, despite the 2025/26 version having expired at the end of April.
The Isle of Wight Council later said that replacement calendars would be delivered to homes throughout June.
With more than half the month having passed, many residents remain without one.
Calendars are now being hand-delivered to properties, prompting further questions to County Hall about the ongoing delays and the unusual delivery method.
The Council says the switch to a new waste contractor has affected production and delivery arrangements, leading to this year’s significant delay. They have also confirmed the use of postal and hand delivery methods.
A spokesperson has said:
“The delay to this year’s calendar distribution is due to the recent change in the Island’s waste service provider. This transition has required adjustments to production and delivery arrangements, which has impacted the usual timetable.
“Calendars are being distributed using a combination of postal delivery and hand delivery. This flexible approach ensures all properties can be reached effectively.
“All Island residents should receive their calendars by the end of June. If residents have not received theirs by this time, they can contact [email protected].”
Residents who have still not received a calendar by the end of June are being advised to contact the Council.
