Isorropia Foundation has announced the release of a short film aimed at enhancing the understanding of mental health support available on the Isle of Wight. With approximately 1 in 6 people experiencing moderate to severe depression in any given year, and roughly 1 In 6 people experiencing some form of anxiety in any given year, it’s becoming increasingly important to know what support is available. The film, made possible through the generous funding of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation, underscores Isorropia Foundation’s commitment to addressing mental health challenges on the Island. By partnering with key stakeholders including IOW NHS Mental Health Services, Two Saints, IOW Youth Trust, Working Towards Wellbeing and Aspire, the short video offers practical insight on how and where to access mental health support. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4RJGm_3fvk The film can also be found on the following websites:

There’s a direct correlation between poor mental health and poverty. Very few mental health problems in affluent areas.
From my personal and commercial experience, poor mental health in affluent areas is often missed in general NHS figures. Research has found that many living in affluent areas either have disposable income to pay privately or have private healthcare provided through their employment. Such access to these external services is not considered in NHS reports.
I have seen while working for a Money Advice Centre that there is a correlation between poverty and poor mental health. However, I’ve also seen poor mental health even when someone is financially stable.
Poverty and poor mental health can impact anyone at any time.
Oh yes, I wasn’t suggesting it’s the only factor, or that the rich don’t suffer mental health issues but we do have to remember that those wealthier can afford the treatment which limits the damage to those affected; with the poor the lack of available timely treatment compounds it.
please explain then karen, why is it that you see reports of very wealthy people committing suicide
I didn’t sat they don’t, I said it’s more prevalent in low income groups. Sometimes suicide (in the wealthy)is triggered by just one external factor which could be relational, work or status.
Perhaps the poor should use the free contraception which they have a right to, to limit future mental people costing society so much and not always just in monetary terms.
Perhaps the drugs and drink they can always afford adds to their mental offspring as it can damage sperm and eggs.
Perhaps the fact that they can ‘claim’ more money if convincing the authorities they, or their state paid for offspring has mental health issues also leads to more claiming such, as since it losing its stigma, it has become the ‘new backache’ for dishonest claimants as it is easy to fake and hard to prove.
But of course this won’t sit well with you, as it is all about hating the wealthy, except of course yourself.
Says a great deal about you
You got so many chips on your shoulder I,v,y. Do you own a chip shop?
Hate speech again, Poison I,v,y? This time about those with mental health conditions! Ok, an education (yet again, you really can’t learn, can you?). To eradicate mental health conditions everyone would need right now to stop reproducing. ALL mental health conditions have a genetic component which can be triggered (or not) by environmental factors and stressors. Poverty is just one of those stressors. Anxiety and fear another. Persecution yet another. If you don’t like the amount of people with mental health issues clouding your utopian horizon then I suggest you a) stop looking in the mirror and b) stop spewing hatred at others who cannot help the conditions YOU and others like you perpetrate.
karen – you are being hypocritical in your comment, when you indicate that ivy cant learn – are you mocking those with learning disabilities.
the left soon enough, eats itself
Try reading your posts and then look in a mirror karen.
Although you may not of course recognise your biased extreme left wing, wealthy white hatred.
The positive association between mental illness and poverty is considered established in psychiatric epidemiology but there is little actual evidence to support this relationship. Explanations revolve around the idea of a vicious cycle where poverty may cause mental ill health, and mental ill health may lead to poverty. However, recent studies based on large samples (from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, India, Mexico, and Tonga) have failed to show any association between consumption poverty and mental health, and thus poor mental health is not a disease of affluence or a disease of poverty. Changes in life circumstances caused by problems such as illness actually have greater impacts on mental health than levels of poverty.
My mental health was fine until the thieving B’stards
started charging 24/7 parking charges and extortionate
toilet charges.
Its a true point when a man can’t even go out for a walk or walk the dog without being charged.
