Organisers of The Big Beach Weekender – a series of 3 evenings of entertainment to be held at Ryde Harbour this Summer – have revealed the line-up for 2024. The unique series of outdoor concerts relaunch the concept of The Woodland Sessions, which ran successfully at Robin Hill in 2021 and 2022, but were forced to move by the closure of the country park. Centred around the same positioning of ‘exceptional talent in an exceptional setting’, the 3 shows will include stand-up comedy, a 90’s beach party and a current dance music night. Big Beach Comedy kicks off the series on Thursday 11th July with the Island’s biggest comedy lineup of the year, comprising of well-known TV comedians Maisie Adam, Dylan Moran, Hal Cruttenden and Harriet Kemsley. Big Beach Party on Friday 12th July will see the popular return to the Island of the hugely in-demand, Rhythm Of The 90’s – the UK’s undisputed Number 1 90’s dance covers party starters. Having appeared at The Woodland Sessions in both 2021 and 2022 and trebling their Island audience year on year, excitement is sure to be high. And Big Beach Dance on Saturday 13th July promises an exhilarating night for dance music lovers with the undisputed godfather of Drum n Bass Andy C headlining, accompanied by MC Tonn Piper hosting. Support is provided by the rapidly rising star that is DJ Lens, who is at the forefront of a new wave of female dance music talent and Dynamite MC, who appeared with Sigma in 2022 and is one of the biggest names in the global MC world. Event producer, Keith Penny, of Island-based events company ….with a difference, says:
“We’re delighted to be relaunching our shows in Ryde this summer with a cracking line up of exceptional talent. “From 4 top stand up comedians that appear regularly on shows like Live At The Apollo, Have I Got News For You and 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown to the world’s biggest and most enduring DnB DJ, Andy C, who is returning to the Island for the first time since playing Bestival here 10 years ago. “And not many covers bands can grace main stages at festivals like Victorious, or sell out venues like Portsmouth Guildhall, in the way that Rhythm Of The 90’s do. Having appeared twice before at The Woodland Sessions, and with the Island recently topping a social media poll, of the most in demand place for them to play this summer, we know that our 90’s beach party is guaranteed to be hugely popular. “We’re very grateful for the fantastic support and encouragement that we have received from both Ryde Town Council and the general public, since news of the move to Ryde broke last year ”.
