Isle of Wight punk band, The Pill, have released their debut single ahead of a summer of south coast performances and shows in Oxford and London. The single has already gained national interest and has been played on BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio X. Bale of Hay is described by the band as a “noisy checklist about the realities of being blonde” and is perfect for fans of Amyl and the Sniffers, The Slits, Otoboke Beaver and Beastie Boys. Fronted by singers and guitarists Lily Hutchings and Lottie Massey, The Pill’s line-up also includes Rufus Reader, on drums. Bale of Hay was recorded at Empire Studios in Newport and was produced by Rob and Jim Homes – who are known as BoeWeaver. Radio X’s John Kennedy said of The Pill and their new track:
“Sounding fantastic, I think. Can’t wait to hear more from them.”
The Pill said:
“It’s so exciting to have our debut single out now! “Making music and being creative with your best friends is the most fun and we’re so grateful to be doing it. “It’s been a LONG time coming, but the reception has been amazing and we’re so excited to start our creative journey as The Pill. “We wrote Bale of Hay back in early 2020 and it’s so crazy that she’s now out in the big blue. May our child grow and prosper.”

Popular music is plumbing new depths of ineptitude these days. What a pile of dung.
depends on your tastes – the track is ideal for people who like a bit of punk – has a decent beat to it.
It is nothing like punk. You wouldn’t know punk if it bit you in the arse. This is just juvenile indulgent pap.
It’s fun pop for the teens. Not aimed at dinosaurs
I wish them all the best of luck.
Must better than those other 2 girls,
forgotten their name, Did something called Chase Long ?
Another lesbian band called sweaty leg i think
What do you base that on?
Look.. well done all involved and keep at it. Shades of early Blur here so now get more cerebral and melodic and stick it to the naysayers by getting cleverer and deeper. If you stay in this track you’ll just be a loud novelty act.
PS… Look at The Molotovs. Look at their following and fan loyalty, the energy and the stage presence etc. You can do it…
My goodness! They look so happy!
Good luck to them, ignore the old farts on here! Anyone going and doing something positive with their time deserves a bit of encouragement. The album has a touch of the Ramones about it, whilst this track has an element of novelty.
