Lake Parish Council has confirmed the re-provision of the New Road Public Toilets, following public consultation and submission of an application to the Public Works Loan Board.
It has also been announced that the Parish Council is taking forward the installation of a new pump at the Revetment Toilets ahead of the 2024 tourist season.
Parish Chair Paul Brading has said:
“New Road re-provision will cost in the order of £200,000 and is a significant capital investment for a Parish Council of our size, especially following the re-provision at Lake Cliff Gardens, and this has had a significant impact on our current, and future, budgets.”
Deputy Chair Adrian Whittaker added:
“The Parish Council has listened to the needs of residents and tried to prioritise re-provision with the resources available, responding to increased costs, ongoing vandalism, and recognising the poor condition of the facilities when they were permanently closed by the Isle of Wight Council.”
Lake Parish Council have also allocated resources to support the Bay Place Plan, provision of Youth Services, community projects and events, and are in the process of consulting with residents on the 2024-25 budget and subsequent priorities.
Councillor Brading concluded:
“Parish facilities have suffered from anti-social behaviour, and we are working with other agencies to address, and due to commissioning processes there have been delays taking forward plans for New Road and the Revetment.”
The Parish Council have brought forward plans for the revetment toilets, including sourcing a purpose-built replacement pump from America, as part of an engineering solution for the provision given its location and issues regarding accessing utilities.

Who ever has submitted quote for works will make a good few thousands. Caravan parks and the likes must have large massorator pump’s, not having to go to USA.Cant believe cost £200,000 could build new one’s from scratch in different location.
£200,000 is outrageous! Talk about wasting money, Council Tax money at that.
The fact is, all this money will be spent on a pump and as soon as the toilets are reopened, the sado kids Who like hanging out in ‘public toilets’ will be straight in there, smashing them up, forcing them to be closed again.
Where is Lake’s other councillor Mr Outlaw??
