Dominic Marsh – from Isle of Wight Panther Kickboxing Club – won the Ko Suu/Fight Island Ki title on Saturday (12th August).
Dom fought a very experienced K1 fighter with a unique style, using kicks on the back foot scoring with low kicks and teeps. The fight was a challenge to start with, but – as the rounds went on – his power, boxing skills, and variety of kicks had his opponent hurt in the corner multiple times.
After 5 rounds, the decision went Dominic’s way, winning the 65kg Division to pick up the Ko Suu/Fight Island K1 title.
Dom’s next tournament will be in Italy for team GB and Isle of Wight Panther Kickboxing Club at the end of September.
After the fight, Dominic said:
“Thank you everyone for the support. I am overwhelmed still by how many people came to watch.
“Props to my opponent – he was the most awkward fighter I have faced so far, but once I found my rang,e I walked him down in the 3rd, 4th and 5th, almost stopping him in the corner at the end of the 4th.
“Means so much to fight on home soil for the 1st time in front of family and friends, but to also show everyone my skill and what my club Isle of Wight Panther Kickboxing club can do.
“Like to say a massive thank you to Michael Voisey and Steven Marsh for being in my corner and Aaron Mchugh for coaching the team. Also to Andy Harvey for having me headline.
“I think I showed I am one of the biggest draws on the Island! Next up Italy for Full Contact at the end of September.”
