Merriebank Lettings, a local family run business, have been announced as winners at this year’s British Property Awards, taking gold in the Letting Agents – Isle of Wight category.
Father and daughter team Dean and Sophie Faulkner performed outstandingly throughout the extensive judging period, which focused on customer service levels.
The British Property Awards provide agents throughout the UK with an invaluable opportunity to compare the service that they provide against the service provided by their local, regional and national competition. Agents who go that extra mile and provide outstanding levels of customer service are rewarded with the prestigious accolade, which acts as a beacon to highlight these attributes to their local marketplace.
Robert McLean from the British Property Awards said:
“If an agent has been attributed with one of our awards, it is simply down to the fantastic customer service levels that they have demonstrated across a prolonged period of time. Winning agents should be proud that their customer service levels provide a benchmark for their local, regional and national competition.”
The Newport-based firm will now also be shortlisted for a number of national awards which will also be announced shortly.

Well done Dean & Sophie.Keep the Merriebank flag flying high.
When I went to measure up a property for my sister-in-law the representative from Merriebank was extremely rude, everything was too much trouble and I got the distinct impression I was taking up too much of her time, that might have been because she had scheduled several other appointments simultaneously. If the property was for me I’d have told them to shove it.
It astonishes me that a good news story invites more negative comments than positive.
It sounds like the lady you criticised was providing great customer service by allowing you time to measure up after already letting the property to your sister in law.
I’m guessing she would have had to co-ordinate times with the current tenants to allow you access which could have been disruptive to them. There are always two sides to a story. If it was such a distressing experience for you, why did you not take it up with the company at the time…but that would mean fronting up, which you aren’t comfortable with because that would mean removing yourself from the comfort of your keyboard
Well if they got gold what are the others like? My partner tried umpteen times to get a call back from them regarding a property which had recently ‘unexpectedly’ come back on the market which she had previously viewed and liked.Three times messages were left, not one was returned! Gold standard? Maybe for this island , but not in the open market, that behaviour is unacceptable!
How bad are others on the island if they’ve won…lol…Do not return calls when expressing an interest in a property – unless that is a) you know them and are a ‘friend’…and b) you’re an Islander. As one person has commented…rude…and no we’re not wrong.
People not receiving a call back when they are amongst dozens chasing a single property due to shortage of available rentals ? Surely not ?!
I think Merriebank well deserve their award.
PS – not a friend or beneficiary.
So pleased for your award! Since the first meeting I have always found courtesy, understanding and prompt service when needed. And having rented for most of my adult life through various agencies and private landlords that is rare! So pleased that I am currently renting through them. I can highly recommend them.
No social housing though just rents that are anti social.
Perhaps a ‘social conscience and local consideration’ aren’t point scoring factors in property money making and greed is obscured away in deceptive and misleading ‘wrapping’
