The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary in Wroxall has taken in a dozen donkeys and employed a new general manager.
The 12 new donkeys – named Amberley and Buster, Paddy and Murphy, Lavender and Evie and Gabby, Lenny, Desmond, Treacle, and Jack and Jill – are all aged from 5 to 21 years.
6 of the donkeys came from a sanctuary in Cornwall that has downsized, while others have come from owners who could no longer care for them.
The Donkey Sanctuary have said:
“It’s a privilege to be able to offer a forever home to these wonderful animals. We look forward to our visitors enjoying getting to know them all.”
It has also been announced that Stephen Tobitt has taken up the role of general manager at the sanctuary. A lifelong animal lover and Island resident for nearly 30 years, Stephen brings extensive experience in finance, operations, and leadership.
His previous roles include CEO of Neal’s Yard Remedies and 9 years at Liz Earle Beauty Co.
It comes following the resignation of Chief Executive Susan McCall after just 18 months in the role, as exclusively revealed by Island Echo back in December.

Can’t wait to go meet them all
I’m very glad someone has taken up the role again.
