Isle of Wight 2nd Division side Carisbrooke United are to disband and withdraw from Isle of Wight football, it was announced this afternoon (15th August).
Carisbrooke United’s Julie Culliford-Brace made the following statement:
“It is with great sadness that after 125 years of history that Carisbrooke United FC have folded,
“The club as most will know have been struggling for players for quite a while and for this season 2023/24 have only had a few players come forward.
“I would like to thank all of those that have been involved with Carisbrooke United FC over the years from past Presidents, Vice Presidents some of whom have passed on, Chairman’s including our current and Committee members. Also managers, including our current Reg Moul, who has worked tirelessly over the years that he has been with us and to past players.
“We have seen some really good results and some not so good but all in all it has been a really good club.
“On a personal level, I am not heartbroken that this has happened as many know I’ve been with the club for 28 years and have seen it decline mainly since Covid and always hoped things would improve, and I’m sorry that it has not.
“Thank you all once again and I wish all our past players and those connected to the Brooke success and good health.”
