An injured man who became stuck on a beach in the West Wight whilst enduring lots of pain has thanked the emergency services who rescued him.
Retained firefighters from Freshwater Fire Station were called to the beach at Freshwater Bay yesterday afternoon (Saturday) to assist the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service in moving a patient.
Man power and a steady hand were key in lifting and carrying local man Aaron McNeish across the stones and into the awaiting ambulance.
Publicly thanking the emergency personnel for their efforts, Aaron has today said:
“I was stuck on the beach and in lots of pain without a way to get off it for many hours. The ambulance and fire crew worked together to get me to hospital very efficiently.
“Such a professional and caring service and I am thankful for what you do”.
Freshwater Fire Station have said on their Facebook page:
“We have had a number of shouts similar to this over the last couple of months where we have assisted other agencies in all kinds of locations and at all times of day and night.
“These types of calls show how well our emergency services work together on the Island, 24/7/365”.
