More than 40 people attended CycleWight’s Annual Grand Meeting last Friday (6th October).
There was a short presentation from Tom Page of Cycling UK who talked about the work of the organisation and how it supports local cycle groups like CycleWight. He also awarded a certificate to CycleWight in recognition of their 30 years of campaigning.
There were other presentations including Wightlink Wight Mountain Cycle Race Team on their excellent results this year; an update on Isle of Wight Triathlon Club from Steve Dines, which included a few words about Isle of Wight Cycling Facebook page; Will Ainslie from People Powered CIC on Local Cycling Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs); Re-Cycle Cycles for Africa looking for a new coordinator and the Isle of Wight Council needing more Bikeability trainers.
Tim Thorne, the Chair, then reviewed the year and highlighted some highs and lows.
Alec Lawson, Secretary, said:
“It was fantastic to have so many people turn up tonight, including many who have not attended any of our events before.”
As ever it was great to meet and mingle with old friends and new members and the committee would like to thank all who donated a raffle prize and to everyone who bought tickets to help finance their campaigns.
