A GoFundMe page has been set up to enable a Ryde man, who suffered a traumatic brain injury after falling down the stairs, to return home after more than a year in hospital. It was on 29th January last year that Craig Teasdale was involved in a freak accident, which resulted in life-changing injuries. He was placed on life support and underwent numerous operations. Now, 42-year-old Craig continues his recovery at St Mary’s Hospital but is preparing to return home. He continues to make progress every day and his sheer determination and zest for life is remarkable and humbling to see, say his friends. In order for Craig to return home with his partner, Andy Harper, a number of adjustments and modifications need to be made – and this is where the help of fellow Islanders is needed. Craig requires his bathroom adapted and a walk-in shower installed so he can continue to wash and shower easily and be as independent as possible. With your help, it is hoped that this crucial adjustment can be made, as well as other changes around the home, to help with his continuing rehabilitation. Otherwise, it could be another year before Craig is able to leave hospital, as there is a long wait for such adaptations. So far over £2,000 has been raised towards a target of £8,000, thanks to the fundraiser set up by friend Sally Farley. You can donate too at https://www.gofundme.com/f/t7ajz-get-craig-home.
