The Worshipful Master of Spithead Lodge – based in Seaview – has chosen a foodbank as his charity for his year in office. Proceeds of the raffles and bottle draws held at the Masonic Meetings will be turned into items that the foodbank can distribute to their clients. W.Bro Steve Haines has delivered 616 bottles of washing-up liquid to the foodbank. During his year so far, he has also donated, 1,425 Toilet Rolls and 740 bars of Soap. Steve has said:
“Giving money to the charity is all well and good, but to give something as tangible and useful as we are doing is so much more helpful and shows that masons are here to serve our communities, as well as to promote 1 of the values that masonry is founded on: relief.”

The Worshipful Master? I think we might need to agree to differ on that one.
W. Bro? Looks like this article was written by a Freemason. Is it a news article or a promotional piece?
Too much is given to those who have children knowing that they can’t afford them and then expect others to house, feed and clothe them. Now with this idiot, we will be aiding wiping their backside too.
Give nothing to selfish people who breed to benefit themselves hence the kids run wild.
My advice is keep it in your trousers if you cannot afford to pay for
Children.

I turned them down, denounce my faith in God, all attending to give £100 half raffled amongst the others, half to charity to make them look good!

Which man originally decided that we ‘be of good character’. Criteria please? Who decides now? And the Supreme Being I have to believe in…can I therefore call myself a religion in my own right or would Santa Claus do? If it’s not egalitarian it remains a paternalistic organisation.
