Isle of Wight flag footballer Lottie Laidler has returned from representing Great Britain in the Flag football World Championships in Finland.
Great Britain won all their group games – taking them top of their group at day 2.
They then went on to win their first placement game but then narrowly lost the quarter final against Japan by 1 touchdown.
GB finished in 7th place and have qualified to compete in the world games next year. This will be held in China and for the first time will showcase the top 8 teams in Flag Football.
Lottie has said:
“The GB team are truly gutted to not take a medal from the world championships, and this is something we need time to process. However, the opportunity to play in China next year is huge and will motive us further.
“The girls and I are determined to disrupt the world stage by playing the best football we can. The road to the Olympics has only just begun.”

Flag football is the non-contact version of American football.
Lottie plays for the Coventry Cougars Women’s flag football team and trains with the Wootton-based Wight Raptors.
