Acclaimed singer-songwriter Sorrel Nation is set to begin a new chapter in her career with the release of her new single Ran Jonny Ran next month, ahead of the launch of her second album later this year.
The travelling troubadour, who received widespread praise for her debut album Lost En Route, will release the new track on 17th July.
Blending folk, country, Americana and singer-songwriter influences, Ran Jonny Ran is described as a song centred on journeys, emotion and storytelling, showcasing the distinctive vocal style that has helped Sorrel build a growing following.
The single is the first release from forthcoming album Creeping Thyme, which is due to be released digitally and on CD on 23rd October 2026. A vinyl edition is planned for Spring 2027.
According to the artist, the new album explores themes including growth, resilience, memory and belonging, while building on the foundations established by Lost En Route.
Sorrel has established a reputation for emotionally resonant performances and has appeared at major events including Black Deer Festival, the Isle of Wight Festival and Cambridge Folk Festival.
Her debut album attracted praise from music journalist Alan Cackett, who described the record as:
“An extraordinarily complex record in terms of genre, emotion and sonics.”
Sorrel performs both solo and with her full band and also tours with The Magic Teapot music venue in her campervan, Dory.
Black Deer Festival co-founder Gill Tee has said:
“Off the scale stunning.”
With the release of Ran Jonny Ran and the arrival of Creeping Thyme later this year, Sorrel Nation hopes to further establish herself within the contemporary folk, Americana and roots music scene.
