Isle of Wight-based Datum Electronics has joined the Made in Britain campaign, reinforcing its commitment to designing and manufacturing products in the UK.
The specialist manufacturer, which operates out of East Cowes and Southampton, produces precision torque, strain and shaft power measurement systems used in sectors including marine, oil and gas, automotive, agriculture and defence.
By joining Made in Britain, Datum Electronics will be able to display the official mark used to identify and promote goods manufactured in the UK.
Managing Director at Datum Electronics, Michael Irons, said:
“Made in Britain reflects the way we’ve been working for a number of years. Our products are designed and manufactured in the UK for demanding applications, with a strong emphasis on quality, full traceability, and control over our manufacturing processes.
“It also reflects our commitment to working with trusted UK suppliers wherever possible, strengthening local supply chains and supporting UK engineering capability.”
The company says operating within the UK allows for a more streamlined supply chain and shorter transport distances, supporting wider sustainability objectives.
Datum Electronics supplies customers in international markets and says the Made in Britain mark provides additional assurance over product origin, manufacturing standards and long-term reliability.
Purchasing Co-Ordinator at Datum Electronics, Kelly Pearce, said:
“Datum’s priority is ensuring that the products we make are of the absolute highest quality. There is no better way to assure this than to use British manufacturers that we can work closely with to ensure that our standards of work are replicated.
“Socially we are able to support these relationships more effectively than overseas by being able to visit or distribute directly, which also supports our environmental goals.”
Datum Electronics has decades of engineering experience and specialises in sensors, monitoring systems and data acquisition solutions, alongside calibration, installation and bespoke design services.
The company says its in-house engineering and software teams enable it to develop cost-effective solutions for customers across a wide range of industries.
