Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was reported to have indecently exposed himself on Ryde Esplanade as hundreds of people flocked to the seafront to enjoy yesterday’s scorching heat (Thursday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary received a report at 14:10 that a man had been seen indecently exposing himself on the busy Esplanade, which was filled with beachgoers and families making the most of the heatwave conditions.
Officers quickly attended the scene and arrested a man nearby who was alleged to have been touching himself in public.
However, following initial enquiries, the man was de-arrested while officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the report.
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary said:
“Following enquiries the man was de-arrested.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this report.”
