The Isle of Wight is set to experience its first true heatwave of the Summer this week, with forecasters predicting a sharp rise in temperatures and prolonged sunshine for the Isle of Wight Festival weekend!
Conditions are expected to steadily heat up from today (Tuesday), reaching the mid to high 20s across the Island. By the weekend, temperatures could even edge into the low 30s, especially inland.
Festivalgoers attending this year’s Isle of Wight Festival should prepare for intense heat, with sunscreen and plenty of water essential to avoid dehydration.
Today will bring a fine and pleasantly warm day with sunny spells and high, thin cloud. Inland temperatures are forecast to reach 22-24c, with a west-southwest breeze keeping coastal areas cooler.
Tomorrow is expected to be another bright and dry day, with just patchy cloud. Inland temperatures will rise slightly to between 23-25c, while a shifting breeze keeps the far west and south more temperate.
By Thursday, conditions will feel rather hot inland, with widespread sunshine and highs of 25-27c. An easterly breeze will help maintain slightly cooler conditions along eastern and southern coasts.
Friday will continue the warm trend, though with some cloud cover moving in. There is a small chance of a localised shower, but temperatures will remain in the mid-20s, moderated slightly by a fresh coastal breeze.
Saturday is forecast to be very warm or even hot, with plenty of sunshine and inland highs of 26-28c. Once again, an easterly breeze will keep coastal areas more comfortable.
Sunday looks set to be the hottest day of the week, with widespread sunshine and temperatures potentially peaking between 27-30c. The easterly breeze may ease as the day progresses, allowing for intense afternoon heat – on what is the final day of the Festival.

I remember these heatwaves in the old days they were known as SUMMER.
I too can remember those days when it was called summer,
nowdays they call it climate change, what a load of
rubbish.
We have had such summers and winters for years and
years.
What has climate change got to do with a heatwave forecast? We have always had heatwaves and they have always been highlighted during forecasts as some people struggle with heat, especially here in the UK with its often rather cool climate.
Still, a little confused to why people relate this to some kind of climate change as that is neither stated nor even hinted at.
They were also known as heatwaves back then too! The word was first used in the mid 1800’s and was used to describe much warmer than average conditions that last at least 3 days.
If it lasts more than three days and the temperature is above average then it is a heatwave. The temperature is way above average at the moment and there is no rain to boot, the climate is changing.
Stop building cloud hubs, data centres and using AI facilities would help to reduce heat build up, water usage and electricity usage. Wold be a good start. Or invent something that uses less resources.
