Island residents are being reminded that extra money is available to help those in crisis.
The money – which can be accessed through Citizens Advice Isle of Wight – can be used to assist Island residents who are in genuine hardship, enabling them to quickly access help in an emergency.
The funds can be used to buy food, pay utility bills, top-up prepayment cards and for the purchase of white goods such as microwaves to ensure food can be cooked.
The Citizens Advice team, in partnership with the Footprint Trust, can also arrange for heating appliances to be fixed or offer temporary replacement to keep families warm.
Paul Savill, Chief Officer of Citizens Advice Isle of Wight, said:
“Not only can we support people who are facing financial hardship in the short term, we can also help them to avoid falling into crisis in the future so I would urge people to get in touch if they need advice or assistance.”
Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely has given extra publicity to the fact. He said:
“The Government has made this money available for those who genuinely need it and I want to make sure Islanders know that there is help out there, they just need to ask.”

yes – and how did they cope before covid – eh – they seemed to be ok then – now it is just being used as an excuse to sponge, beg and whine about not having anything, yet at the same time to effing lazy to even breathe.
Who are these folk who aren’t entitled to everything the rest of the counties unemployed receive then?
I thought all had the same rights to the same amount of benefits now?
