Local home care provider Carewatch Isle of Wight, which visits older people and other vulnerable residents across the Island to help them regain and retain their independence, has been awarded a ‘Good’ overall rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following a recent inspection.
The CQC evaluated how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led Carewatch Isle of Wight’s service is, talking to its staff, customers and their relatives.
In their report inspectors said:
“Staff were caring and compassionate. They built positive relationships with people, encouraged them to be as independent as possible and involved them in decisions about their care,” noted inspectors. “Staff treated people with dignity and respect and protected their privacy during personal care.”
The CQC’s report also said people were complementary about the competence of staff and the quality of care they received. New staff completed an effective induction into their role and experienced staff received regular refresher training in all key subjects. Staff were appropriately supported in their role by managers.
Claire Martin, Manager at Carewatch Isle of Wight says:
“Everyone at Carewatch Isle of Wight works tirelessly to deliver high quality care and support to our service users, so to be rated as ‘Good’ by the CQC feels fantastic.
“It is important to champion the efforts of care workers and celebrate the vital role they perform in their local communities. We are delighted with our CQC rating and I’d like to thank all the staff for doing such a great job. We will keep striving to improve our service even more.”
