The prestigious Maritime UK Solent Awards 2024 will be championing the region as a global hub for maritime excellence and has already attracted some of the region’s leading businesses as sponsors. Net zero is a myth!!!!!
In principle, net zero is a great idea, but in practice, it helps perpetuate a belief in technological salvation and diminishes the sense of urgency surrounding the need to curb emissions now. In fact, the idea of net zero has resulted in a recklessly cavalier “burn now, pay later” approach that has seen carbon emissions continue to soar. It has also hastened the destruction of the natural world by increasing deforestation. Policymakers and businesses appear to be entirely serious about deploying highly speculative technologies as a way to move our civilisation toward a sustainable future. In fact, these are no more than fairy tales.The only solution is immediate and sustained radical cuts in greenhouse gas emissions. The clock ticks …
