CycleWight has organised multiple rides and activities across the Island to celebrate 30 years of the organisation, with an event to be held on Saturday 29th April.
Island cyclists have plenty to look forward to with a bumper day of 2-wheeled action at the end of the month, all in celebration of CycleWight’s 30th birthday.
CycleWight is holding a series of rides on Saturday 29th April with a number of them set to take place on the Red Squirrel Trail. It was CycleWight who initially proposed the idea of the Cowes to Sandown route which opened 20 years ago and which has proved hugely popular with a wide range of users including being used for the flat walk route for Walk the Wight.
More details can be found on their website and which also provides links to book some of the more popular routes rides in advance.
A number of activities are to be held at Merstone where the cycle advocacy group will be basing their HQ for the day between 10:00 and 15:00. These include trying out electric bikes and cargo bikes as well as free bike bells and refreshments.
Organisers have teamed up with various partners for the big celebration event. This includes Wight Cycle Hire in Newport who will provide a 10% discount when mentioning CycleWight.
The event comes ahead of the return of the Isle of Wight Randonnee which, as previously reported by Island Echo, will return the following day on Sunday 30th April.

Remember to give the cyclists lots of space when you overtake
Why do cyclists cycle side by side blocking vehicles from
driving safely along.
With all them fields they can go on so no need to use the roads
why give them space they don’t give me any space when i am walking the dog
