HM Coastguard and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending a boat fire at Kingston in East Cowes this afternoon (Wednesday).
At just before 17:00, Cowes RNLI and Bembridge RNLI lifeboats were requested to launch following reports of a vessel fire in the vicinity of The Folly on the River Medina.
The casualty vessel – a speed boat – has since been towed to Kingston Marina, where 2 appliances from Newport Fire Station are on scene.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are also on scene, but the lifeboats have been stood down.
The fire has been confirmed as being out but further checks are being carried out.
The cause is unknown at this early stage.
