3 teenagers have received a summons to appear in court as part of a robbery investigation.
It was reported to Police that at around 19:00 on 31st January this year, a 15-year-old boy was approached by a group of youths. Threats were made with a knife and the youths demanded the victim hand over his trainers, which he did.
Police have conducted extensive enquiries and 3 people will appear in court to face the following charges:
- A 15-year-old boy from Newport will face a charge of robbery and of possession of a knife in a public place.
- A 16-year-old boy from East Cowes will face a charge of possession of a knife in a public place.
- A 17-year-old boy from Rookley will face a charge of handling stolen goods.
All 3 will appear at the Isle of Wight Youth Court on 4th January 2023.

whilst i am sure they will “big it up” in youth offenders, trying to act like the “hardest in there”, the reality is that all three of them are not old enough to be in an off licence together, one at least still has a “bed time” and all three will eventually meet a very friendly cell mate, if they end up in adult jail in a couple of years time.
mind you – they are a product of the “everyone wins, no losers, cannot tell a child no, smacking isn’t allowed” teaching culture. I suspect that they were left to their own devices at school, assuming they ever turned up, as teachers were too busy painting rainbows, to discipline them properly.
when they turn 18 – pub/fight/police/court/jail – rinse, repeat.

Myself and many others I would imagine, hope these boys get more than just a slap on the wrist. They have to be punished and made to understand, carrying a knife is totally unacceptable. Their parents need a thorough talking to aswell. They need to educate their children on the dangers of carrying a knife. This is not the Police’s job to babysit these kids.
Little cowards operate in packs, however, justice won’t be served…
My nephew is 16 just he’s a little s**t goes to sandown Bay High whatever they call it now. He’s escaped from school attacked teachers and he gets away with everything. I’ve spoken to family members who say he will grow out of it. Or there’s nothing that I can do. I wish they brought back national service. Or let you name and shame the little bug*gers cause I think it’s disgusting and I’ve told him if I find out he does something I’ll be the 1st to shop him to the police
National Service would sort out a lot of them, it doesn’t have to be Military biased with weapons training but the discipline would do them good. When I joined up I found it wasn’t about being told what to do all the time, it was about self discipline. Training was basically to stop you thinking about yourself and building you up to think about and trust others….with your life.
Trouble is these days there is no punishment for kids especially at home,they go out cause trouble thinking they can get away with murder
Some have got away with murder. Plenty of kids have killed parents and siblings to obtain money etc.
What has gone wrong with society, our country is looking more like a violent and dangerous third world country by the day, we have gangs of abysmally dragged up feral youths who view violence and antisocial behaviour as the norm.
Nothing will stem this until the courts start handing out meaningful sentences coupled with parents being held responsible for the behaviour of their spawn, there is a case on the mainland of a piece of filth with a long record of violence murdering a young lady who was a total stranger by kicking and stamping her to death weeks after its release from prison for a a violent crime, it is time that criminals are given realistic sentences where they serve every day without parole and where life actually means life.
I totally agree with you Reg. One correction though, the piece of filth who stamped and beat that young woman and then sexually assaulted her and left her for dead had been released from prison just 2 DAYS earlier, not 2 weeks. The law has got to change. There are people in society who are pure evil and commit terrible, violent crimes against other human beings. The punishment MUST reflect the crime.

Better these Judges give them a harsh, deserving sentence now while they’re still young enough to amend their ways or it will come down to the good ol’ British Taxpayer keeping them fed and warm in prison.
I heard about this story on island echo a while ago. I believe the prisons are to full to hand long sentences. England should do a deal with America to free up our prisons here in England. Scum bags doing this to our community
I don’t believe prison would be a suitable punishment. They need to be embarrassed in public. Chain them together, make them wear bright orange clothing and get them sweeping roads and clearing drains. Never going to happen though in our woke society.
Well I hope the parents of the Children carrying offensive weapons and receiving stolen goods are proud of their offspring. Perhaps some parents need to go back to parenting classes in these cases so they understand fully what their role is in having a child.
