The Utilita Energy Hub in Newport is turning pink this October as staff and customers raise money for Breast Cancer Now.
The month-long fundraising campaign will run from 5th October to 30th October, with a series of activities planned at the High Street hub.
Coffee mornings, homemade cupcake sales, handcrafted pink crystal bead bracelets and a raffle will all help raise money for Breast Cancer Now’s research and support services.
Coffee mornings will take place on 5th, 16th, 19th and 30th October, giving residents the chance to enjoy refreshments while supporting the charity.
Raffle tickets will also be available for £1 each, with a luxury hamper up for grabs. The winning ticket will be drawn at 15:00 on 30th October.
Utilita Energy Expert Sarah Hutton is also taking on a personal challenge by walking 200 miles throughout October.
The fundraiser has particular significance for Sarah, whose family has been affected by breast cancer.
Sarah said:
“Breast cancer has touched my family in a very personal way, with 2 of my close relatives affected by the disease, including my mother.
“Thanks to advances in research, treatment and care, my mum is still with us today, and for that I will be forever grateful.
“I’m dedicating 100 miles to each of my relatives who have faced breast cancer. Every mile represents their strength and courage, while also raising awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Now.
“I hope the challenge can help more families benefit from the research and support that has given us precious extra time together.”
Dan Green, Newport Utilita Energy Hub Supervisor, added:
“At the heart of our Hub is supporting the communities we serve, and we’re proud to be coming together this October to raise funds for such an important cause.
“We’d encourage local residents to pop in, enjoy a coffee and cake, buy a raffle ticket or simply help spread the word. Every contribution will help make a difference.”
Residents can find out more about the fundraising activities, or support Sarah’s challenge, by visiting the Utilita Energy Hub in Newport High Street throughout October.
