A police helicopter has been seen circling over the skies above Bonchurch and Luccombe in the South East of the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Monday), as search and rescue volunteers on the ground disperse during the third day for missing 86-year-old Ivan.
The National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter arrived over the Island at around 14:30, having travelled from RAF Benson in South Oxfordshire.
The aircraft spent around 25 minutes circling the area between Bonchurch and Luccombe before departing at 14:56, heading back towards RAF Benson.
Meanwhile, volunteers from WightSAR (Isle of Wight Search and Rescue) are involved in search efforts on the ground, with a mobile Police van also stationed at East Dene in Bonchurch.
The activity comes as concerns continue to grow for missing 86-year-old Ivan Robert Macaulay, who was last seen in Wootton Bridge on Thursday (1st October).
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police launched a public appeal on Saturday evening after concerns were raised for Ivan’s welfare.
The pensioner was last seen driving along Church Road in Wootton shortly after 13:50 on Thursday in his dark grey Honda Jazz, registration MW62 GOC.
Ivan is described as white, approximately 5ft 7ins tall and of a small build, with short black and grey hair, distinctively bushy eyebrows and 2 hearing aids.
He is also known to walk with a stoop and usually carries a walking stick or pole. It is believed he was wearing a grey sailing-style jacket with a hood.
Anyone who has seen Ivan, his vehicle or has information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Police immediately by calling 999, quoting reference 44260485407.
