A 40ft yacht that suffered a series of mishaps whilst mid-Solent today (Monday) was eventually towed to Cowes by the local RNLI lifeboat this afternoon.
The Singularity, with 3 men from the Midlands on board, reported to Solent Coastguard that it’s engine had overheated near East Lepe Buoy and it’s anchor was dragging.
When the Cowes RNLI lifeboat arrived on the scene crew member Andrea Vaughan was put on board; several attempts to recover the anchor proved unsuccessful and lifeboat helm Mark Harker decided it should be cut free.
The yacht was then towed to Trinity Landing.
