Oakfield CE Primary School in Ryde has been forced to close early today (Wednesday) following a suspected gas leak.
It was at around 12:00 this morning that the utility issue first arose, with engineers from SGN – formerly Southern Gas Network – currently on scene.
Parents of pupils at the school have been contacted asking them to pick their children up ‘as soon as possible’.
Taking to their Facebook page, Oakfield CE Primary School have said:
“Emergency Closure – due to gas leak – please collect as soon possible.”
Island Echo understands that the gas has been turned off.
