Prolific offender Daniel Kilshaw is back behind bars after breaking into a High Street pharmacy and stealing boxes of prescription medication.
It was last Thursday (15th May) that the front door of Day Lewis Pharmacy in Newport was smashed in, as first reported by Island Echo.
It didn’t take long for Police to make an arrest, with 43-year-old Kilshaw taken into custody for questioning. He was later charged and remanded in custody.
Appearing before Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, Kilshaw admitted carrying out the burglary.
Magistrates didn’t look favourably on the situation, as Kilshaw has only recently been released from prison. He was sentenced to 8 weeks in custody on 10th March for 4 pharmacy break-ins in Sandown.
The court handed down an 8-week immediate prison sentence, noting Daniel Kilshaw’s ‘flagrant disregard for people and their property’, the fact that the offence was premeditated and his history of similar criminal activity.
No compensation or court costs were ordered due to Kilshaw’s limited means.
Island Echo has reported on several of Kilshaw’s court appearances including 7 counts of theft and possession of a knife in October 2020, possession of 13 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine in December 2021, plus an appearance in March 2022 when he caused criminal damage to Sandham House in Sandown.
In September 2022, Kilshaw was handed an 18-month sentence for stealing a car and crashing it into a wall in Ryde.
The 43-year-old was sent to prison in January and July 2024 and appeared in court last August too. Then, in November, he was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison for stealing £249 worth of coats from TK Maxx.
Another pathetic sentence handed out by the courts. You get more time in prison for upsetting someone on Facebook ffs. Kilshaw sees jail as a holiday.
He should become a screw, he spends more time
inside than a Prison Guard.
Lol
This’ll teach him a lesson. I’m sure he’ll change his ways now!
Tag him.
More investment needs to be used for the probation service and more sophisticated tagging system. The tags need to really go up a grade or three with todays technology, and don’t tell me about individuals rights as those rights are downgraded with offences committed.
Dont waste money on more prisons as they don’t work, invest it in the tags instead.
Maybe such persons should be banned from
returning to the island.
“Maybe he should start a new life elsewhere”
Does the French foreign legion no longer exist!!
The island does not want such persons roaming the
Island.
