Three people have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after police received welfare concerns relating to a 1-year-old boy who had attended St Mary’s Hospital.
Officers were alerted at around 09:30 yesterday (Wednesday), prompting enquiries which have since led to the arrests of 2 men and a woman.
A 26-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, both from Ryde, have been arrested on suspicion of GBH and assault, ill-treatment or neglect of a child likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury.
A 26-year-old man from Shanklin has also been arrested on suspicion of GBH.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been carrying out investigations at an address on Oak Vale in the days following the incident.
All 3 remain in police custody as enquiries continue.
