Three people have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after police received welfare concerns relating to a 1-year-old boy who had attended St Mary’s Hospital.
Officers were alerted at around 09:30 yesterday (Wednesday), prompting enquiries which have since led to the arrests of 2 men and a woman.
A 26-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, both from Ryde, have been arrested on suspicion of GBH and assault, ill-treatment or neglect of a child likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury.
A 26-year-old man from Shanklin has also been arrested on suspicion of GBH.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been carrying out investigations at an address on Oak Vale in the days following the incident.
All 3 remain in police custody as enquiries continue.
UPDATE FRIDAY – Police have confirmed that all 3 people have been bailed.

Why always blame social services are they expected to know the wherabouts of every scum family
It is their job to know where the scum families are, and that the kids are not in danger being among them

This is terrible, please don’t start blaming social services, they are not there to; and can’t predict abuse, so many people make assumptions as to what any authority can do it’s ridiculous. Let’s hope the child gets the protection needed and the culprits are convicted appropriately. Can we also stop with the kids having kids and harking back to the old days, if you are going to blame a generation of people for failing to raise children properly you need to accept that it was the generation before that that failed to teach their children, the issues with the younger generations today are due to their parents not being prepared by the generation before them who are now 50+ and blaming the young for the state of the country.

Its their job, its their legal statutory duty to protect children. So when they fail the finger of blame will point straight back at them.
