Binstead Community Centre’s young darts players won every match they contested during a remarkable summer league campaign.
The team recorded 6 successive league victories before defeating the Railway 16–11 in the final – despite their opponents including several county players.
Binstead were represented by 15-year-olds Zachary Bailey, Winston Hunnybunn, Theo McNamara, Riley Rich, Reggie Woodmore and Michel Hunt, alongside 10-year-old Harrison Hunt.
The youngsters dominated the league stage, winning their matches 23–4, 20–7, 23–4, 23–4, 19–8 and 24–3.
They faced a more experienced Railway side in the final but produced another accomplished performance to secure the title and complete a perfect season.
The team’s ability was matched by its conduct throughout the competition. Opposing players regularly complimented the youngsters on their skills, attitude and sportsmanship, with many saying it had been an absolute pleasure to play against them.
Chris Williams and Paul Davies organised this year’s summer league, introducing a different format intended to encourage wider participation and attract more people to darts.
Paul said:
“It has been an amazing summer league. The social interaction has been one of its highlights, and it has been a pleasure for Chris and me to organise and run it.
“We would like to thank all the players who took part and made it such an enjoyable summer.”
The unbeaten Binstead youngsters ultimately provided the competition’s greatest success story – proving they could compete with, and defeat, some of the Island’s most experienced darts players.
