A road in Ryde that has been closed since earlier today (Thursday) for emergency repairs to a leak and void is expected to reopen under temporary traffic lights tomorrow afternoon.
Southern Water is carrying out emergency works at the junction of John’s Road and Abingdon Road, with Island Roads liaising with the water company over the repairs.
Island Roads says good progress is being made and the road should be able to reopen under traffic light control tomorrow afternoon – just before the Bank Holiday Weekend.
Traffic in Ryde town centre is currently busier, with the road closure being compounded by a Tesco lorry becoming stuck on High Street.
