Prolific thief Daniel Kilshaw has been locked up behind bars once again, this time for breaking into Sandown’s Jhoots Pharmacy on no fewer than 4 occasions.
It was during the early hours of 24th January this year that Kilshaw threw a brick through the window of Jhoots at Sandown Health Centre, stealing an unknown quantity of prescription medication from within.
The 44-year-old was arrested with a bag of stolen goods at Newport Bus Station just hours later.
Then, on 1st March, Kilshaw forced his way into the same pharmacy by breaking another window. He stole yet more prescription medication from behind the counter.
Less than a week later, on 7th March, Kilshaw returned to the Sandown pharmacy and smashed his way in once again. As per his previous burglaries, Kilshaw stole more prescription medication.
According to court documents, a 4th burglary took place the next day on Saturday 8th March too.
Daniel Kilshaw, of High Street in Ventnor, was arrested, questioned, charged and remanded in custody to appear before Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded guilty to 4 offences of burglary on 10th March.
He was sentenced to a total of 8 weeks in custody with Magistrates citing his previous criminal record and the fact he was on licence at the time of the offences as the reason for the sentence.
In addition to the custodial sentence, the court ordered Kilshaw to pay £200 in compensation relating to the first offence committed on 24th January.
Island Echo has reported on several of Kilshaw’s court appearances including 7 counts of theft and possession of a knife in October 2020, possession of 13 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine in December 2021, plus an appearance in March 2022 when he caused criminal damage to Sandham House in Sandown.
In September 2022, Kilshaw was handed an 18-month sentence for stealing a car and crashing it into a wall in Ryde.
The 43-year-old was sent to prison in January and July 2024 and appeared in court last August too. Then, in November, he was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison for stealing £249 worth of coats from TK Maxx.
Just goes to show no amount of prison sentences will work on some people. This “person” and I use the term very loosely, should be locked up for good. The lowest of the low.
No, the lowest of the low are people who hurt other people.
These Numpty’s will never change.
I agree 110% they need locking up for
good.
They will never be any good for society.
Don’t these judges realise their ideas don’t work? This cretin needs two years in the army. They would ensure he has a thoroughly miserable time or comes out with some self respect. As it is he just gets two weeks for each time he has broken into a business which many law abiding tax paying people rely on. Still, can’t put him away for too long, we need the cells for people who have spoken out against this lying government!
The army is too good for him.
Speaking out against the government is not an imprisonable offence. You’re thinking of Russia. And the judges don’t make the law, only uphold it. Drug rehabilitation might work, but it’s probably far far too late for this bloke now.
This sentence was not imposed by a judge but by lay magistrates. It is lassively more lenient than the sentences he received from judges for lesser offences in the past. The bench should have referred the case to the Crown Court for sentencing. Lay magistrates reguarly demonstrate that they are not able to properly adjudicate when sentencing serious matters I was a lay magistrate for 15 years in London and never shied away from sending cases to a higher court uness you were absolutely sure that the magistates court had sufficient sentenceing power. Too many magistrates hold on to cases themselves when they need input from a professiona judge. I think the days of lay benches are over.
So 4 weeks for good behaviour.
It’s a joke.
Saudi have the right idea.
8 weeks,,,,,, Should be 8 Years.
There should be work houses for people like this not prisons where they are made to contribute to society.
orisons are just holuday camos and rest homes for most people like this to charge their batteries whilst getting ready to reoffend.
When will this awful person disappear I’m surprised he’s still alive with the amount of drugs he’s doing, he doesn’t fear prison. get him off our island!!!
